ON SALE TODAY, LADY GAGA & THE MONSTER BALL TOUR
I bought my tickets in the presale yesterday – center orchestra, wow – but you can buy your’s today starting at 10 AM.
Gaga on the tour’s fashion direction: “The fashion, certainly, is going to be another exploration and another level from where we were with the Fame Ball. The theme of monsters is certainly going to be an influence, as well as the theme of evolution and change. It’s going to be a truly artistic experience that is going to take the form of the greatest post-apocalyptic house party that you’ve ever been to.”

Last week I went into American Apparel to buy another leotard and to my delight all of their vintage eye wear was 50% off. Most of the shades were ironic (barf) or 80s but I came across these beauties and knew I had to have them. I have a fondness for tortoise shell and these appear to be the god-mother to the Spring ’10 Linda Farrow for Alexander Wang sunglasses shown here. How could I resist?
I love leather gloves and plastic black kitty cats. I wonder if any one else has this much fun in CVS.

It is 11 days away until All Hallows’ Eve and if you don’t know what costume your wearing, you better get on it! I saw this image from this month’s Dazed and Confused and immediately thought of Lady Bathory. You’d look that good too if you bathed in the blood of virgins.
Maybe this could be your costume? A mix of high fashion and history.

I’ve been gearing up for the re-launch of Fashion Intel and that means I’ve been going through all my old files, inspirations, and lists. In one of my folders I came across an image with celestial rings that was part of the Prada Fall 09 look book. That image has been saved since July and just waiting to grace Fashion Intel. I thought it was cool and beautiful; now is the perfect time to share. Considering this image was meant for Fall, I wandered over to Prada.com where to my delight the whole look book was available for download.
Here are my favorite of the look book images. I’m truly inspired for fall fashion.

I have yet to get my hands on Mitch Horowitz’s Occult America because my library’s funding has been cut drastically, and the esoteric are the first to be ignored. Fortunately I did get a chance to hear Mitch speak on Jay-Z and the Occult via NPR which proved to be quite interesting. There’s been a lot of attention lately to Jay-Z’s supposed connection to the Occult and Freemasonry, and I have to say it makes life much more interesting. It also explains a lot to me – he’s obviously put me under a spell because I’ve never liked his music very much but the Blueprint 3 is great. For the record, I’m A Tribe Called Quest kind of girl.
So why the pictures of Rihanna? Because I LOVE her style and oh yeah, you can see a scary face in her back in that last photo. Remember when she wasn’t cool and singing songs like SOS? She has come a long way since playing at the Los Angeles County Fair. For reals. I’d have to say her “good girl gone bad” look has put her on my best dressed list of 2009. What a difference the Occult can make.

May I suggest you dress up as Chloe Sevigny the cat for Halloween? Even better is to have a friend dress as Terry Richardson to take your photo. Just some costume suggestions from Fashion Intel. xoxo

October is my favorite month of the year. Why? One word. HALLOWEEN. Everything leads up to this amazing day and you have 30 days to prepare. The weather starts cooling off in L.A., all the stores put out their skull tsotchkes, and black makeup becomes omnipresent. What more could a girl ask for?
This October my boyfriend and I are heading up to Nor Cal to spend Halloween with my sister in San Francisco. I’ll be dressing up as Lady Gaga – nay, I will become Lady Gaga – and Asael still has no idea what obnoxious character he’s going to conjure up.
I wanted to start this month off with a post of some beautiful images in the new issue of Harper’s Bazaar. High fashion meets Tim Burton. What you can look forward to for the month of October on Fashion Intel:
+ Black, black and more black
+ Witches, Magic and the Occult
+ An updated site with lots of changes

Last night The Rachel Zoe Project reminded me of how much I love jewelry and that I really need to organize my collection. I don’t have thousands of pieces like dear Rachel but I anticipate that I will one day, so I might as well get Virgo organized before it is too late. Oh, I am a Virgo – won’t be too hard!
Yesterday I received a box in the mail with the much anticipated House of Harlow Aztec skinny bangle. Another black and gold bracelet to add to my ever growing stack. Here are a few of my favorites.

I was with some friends at a gallery over the weekend and we got to talking about Mackenzie Phillips’ new book. Her story mentions how her father wanted them to runaway and raise her sister Bijou Phillips as their own. I’ve always been fascinated with Bijou as I thought she was beautiful, out of control, and had a mind of her own. Her acting and music left something to be desired but nonetheless as someone who is addicted to SVU so was I fascinated with why she was the way she was. A lot of questions were answered this weekend when someone linked an old interview with Bijou in the Jezebel reader comments.
I was quite young when the infamous Calvin Klein ads were shown on TV, but I knew even then how weird they made me feel. I understand now what the aim of the ads were, but I’m not going to make excuses and call it “edgy.” Bijou was 14 when she starred in one of the ads and her comments really struck me. Does any one else find it disturbing that children work in the fashion industry unsupervised?
BIJOU: Yeah, and he was asking these questions like [in a creepy voice], “What do you like about your Calvin Kleins? How do they make you feel?”…
BIJOU: And then he goes, “What would it take to get your jeans off?” I mean, I was like fourteen. I’d been flown in from boarding school to do this. So I said, “If I had to take a shower? If I had to go to the bathroom?”
BRUCE: [laughing] What would it take to get your jeans off! How sweet! But it felt creepy, right?
BIJOU: It felt dirty and wrong.

Do you enjoy long, depressing and violent films? Me too, especially when Charlotte Gainsbourg is the star. Lars von Trier has reeled me in again with Antichrist, a film about … “A grieving couple who retreats to their cabin in the woods, hoping to repair their broken hearts and troubled marriage. But nature takes its course and things go from bad to worse.”
His films always have the most amazing cinematography. 3 – 2 – 1 seconds until I mention the word ethereal. Did I mention this film has a (spoiler alert) scene where Charlotte mutilates Willam Dafoe’s genitals. Did I say too much? Stylish films are always a delight and even if this one is bad, it will undoubtedly look beautiful.

I mentioned on Monday that I hit the makeup counter at Barneys while in Las Vegas. It was Wednesday night (they close at 11p) and I wanted a new shade for our night on the town. Boy did we have a night on the town but that is too x-rated to mention right now. Back to the lipstick. I cozied up to the Lipstick Queen counter and the girls encouraged me to have at it. I tried on many different shades and I was immediately drawn to the wines and purples.
I’ve been wanting to incorporate a more severe lip color – I’ve only worn a pinkish nude – and since I’ll never go near red it was clear in which direction I was heading. I first tried the Saint Wine and was quite pleased, but then I added a top coat of the Chinatown Glossy Pencil in the “Mystery” color and I knew I found the perfect combination. I was such an exciting moment for a girl who was always weary of lipstick.
P.S. Lipstick Queen lipsticks are not tested on animals, are gluten-free and do not use any harsh ingredients.
Shown here: Wine Saint ($18.00), Chinatown Glossy Pencil “Mystery” ($20.00)

One of my favorite groups ever is returning to Los Angeles. I welcome back The Fiery Furnaces! Please join me at the El Rey Theater November 21, 2009 to see them live. If you haven’t listened to their music before, do yourself a favor and pick up their album Gallowsbird’s Bark. Though I’ve fallen quite out of the music scene there is no reason for me to miss one of the most amazing duos alive today. And hey, Eleanor is so unbelievably cool that she’ll make you barf yourself. For reals.
P.S. You might have seen Eleanor is some Miu Miu ads before. Just saying.

Las Vegas was an absolute blast. There was not enough time in the day for us to do everything we wanted to. It was difficult going through the hundreds of photos I took and figuring out which ones I wanted to share on the blog. The first is yet another addition to my ever growing collection of “me wearing hats” photos. Since I refuse to succumb to my strange affection for fur and actually buy it, I always gush over fur hats when I spot one. What can I say? I absolutely won’t buy it but I love playing in it. It is sick, I know.
The second photo was from a restaurant we passed in Caesar’s Palace. Wow, right? Lastly, I must discuss the greatness of Hoover Dam. This image was found in the women’s restroom and I couldn’t stop taking photos of it. So much of Hoover damn appears to have Occult influences and you haven’t visited I suggest you do. Art deco astrology signs, planets, and figures line the damn and it was truly a sight to see. There was even a tape playing over a load speaker that said the designer constructed his designs to impress “future civilizations”, er, rt Deco X Barneys New York X Caesar’s Palace X Hoover Damaliens.
P.S. I am wearing lipstick in the above photo. I sat at the Las Vegas Barneys counter one night and just had at it. More on the color and product to come. I love it.

I’m off on a mini-vacation to Las Vegas, hooray! Pictured are some treats from one of my favorite bakeries, Bouchon. The restaurant is pretty amazing and I look forward to my favorite frisee aux lardons. I’ll be tanning buy the pool, eating some delicious food and thrifting like never before. I hope I find treasures like never before! I once scored a $14 Louis Vuitton jacket in Vegas.
I’ve got my Bourdain recommendations for drinks and my singles for Cheetahs. Now I just need to pack and it is 2:45 in the morning.

Black leather. I’ve been loving The Wing Leather Harness over on Zana’s [Garbage Dress] Etsy page. I think it would look great with the Elizabeth shoes by Bakers and the Event Bat, found at The Pleasure Chest.
I still think it is insane that everything in fashion these days looks like it has been lifted from a recent Belladonna production. I’m not complaining, having a greater selection is a treat but it is still so puzzling.
Harness $140, Shoes $99.95, Event Bat $29.95
